This first bit is my favourite scene of the movie and the book :)

Set in 1913, Pollyanna is the timeless tale of a little girl (Georgina Terry) who goes to live with her wealthy but bitter aunt (Amanda Burton) after the death of her father.

Pollyanna's irrepressible enthusiasm for life brightens up the sleep village of Beldingville, particularly when she shares with the inhabitants a game - "The Glad Game" in which everyone can find a silver lining in the darkest cloud.

When the selfless, caring Pollyanna is in something so terrible, her spirits dip uncharacteristically, and the townsfolk rally around to help her regain her perspective, to rejoice in God and look for the good.

Based on the classic novel by Eleanor H. Porter and in the vein of Anne of Green Gables and Little Women, this adaptation stays true to the book, capturing the very spirit held within its covers.

Cast includes: Amanda Burton, Pam Ferris, Kenneth Cranham, Aden Gillet and introducing the charismatic Georgina Terry

For the first time in the film, I actually found myself siding with Aunt Polly in the scene when Pollyanna was telling her she ought to get married. You shouldn't pressure people to engage in mating activities - I wouldn't like it if somebody advised me to marry or find a partner and do the 'grown-up' things. It doesn't mean you have to be anti-social ... you can never have too many friends. Pollyanna is very social and she's too young to mate.
