that is excacly my problem. I have this movie i made from my cellphone Its a MPEG-4 movie, and i have tried everything to edit it on windows movie maker, but it doesnt accept it. Plus when i click on import a video the file comes up empty ? plz help me !

No, you need to convert it to .avi or a .mp4 for it work correctly.

ok i record a vid with camstudio,use windows movie maker for effects..then it saves it as a windows movie maker project,and when i try to upload..youtube says unable to convert to video file or what ever? any help?

You're exporting the movie right? Not just saving it as a mwmpf or something like that? Exporting may take 1-2 hours where saving is almost instant.

Yah, that happens, the newer version on Vista and Windows 7 works better.
