Hi!! I'm totaly addicted to Tristan and Isolde (Evi and Bea will know that already, I'm sorry for talking so much about it guys xD) I totaly adore those old Celtic myths, and Tristan and Isolde is my favourite xD so here we are =p The song you hear in the movie is "Going under" by Evanescence for the ones that are interested =p

The original story is a little different from the movie, so here I'll tell you the (as far as I know) right story (in short, otherwise I'm busy for a loooooooooooong time =p)
So, Tristan is a knight and the cousin of lord Marke. When England stops with paying Ireland, they send their champion to kill everyone, but Tristan kills the champion and the people are saved. But in this fight, Tristan was mortaly wounded, and het goes to the daughter of the king of Ireland, Isolde, for healing. He tells her another name then his, and they fall in love, but they keep it hidden from eachother.
When Tristan's better, he leaves again, to England. But then the king of Ireland arranges a wedding between his daughter (Isolde) and Tristan's oncle Marke. Marke sends Tristan to get her.
On the boat, Isolde asks Tristan to be with her, but he refuses. She gets mad, and she tells her maid to do poison in two glasses and give one to her and one to Tristan. Brangäne does this and Tristan welcomes his glass, altough he knows about the poison. The two drink together, but what they don't know is that Brangäne did love potion in it in stead of poison. The two fall in love.
After Isoldes mariage they keep seeing each other when Marke goes hunting or something. Brangäne tells Isolde that she thinks Melot, a friend of Tristan, will betray them, but Isolde doesn't hear what she says.
A little bit later, Marke accuses Isolde of beeing with someone else, and she has to swear that she hasn't been in someone elses arms than her husband's. In the ceremonie, she falls and a vagabond catches her. She can truthfully swear that nobody exept this vagabond and her husband had her in their arms. The vagabond was Tristan.
After the ceremonie, Tristan leaves, and marries to the daughter of King Hoel.
A little bit later, his old wound infects again, and he believes that only his beloved Isolde can cure him. He sends a message to her and says to the captain of the boat that he has to take black sails if she isn't on board and white sails when she is on board. He promises this and leaves to England.
when the boat comes he asks his wife to tell him what colours the sails are. She lies to him and tells him that the sails are black. After that he dies with a broken heart.
When Isolde comes in the chamber where he lies, and she sees him laying death on his bed, she dies too.
Marke burries them next to each other, they never had a chance, but they were united in death. On Isoldes grave, there was growing a rose and on Tristan's grave a vine tendril. When they grew, they grew around each other, not to be unfastened.
Ok, I'm talking too much again xD
If you love this story, you should try out other celtic triangle-lovestories too, like Darmaid and Grainne or Deirdre and Naoise (also called Deirdre of the sorrows) or Olwen and Culhwch (damn, what a difficult name). My favourite is still Tristan and Isolde (Tristram/Drust and Iseult/Yseult/Essylt, whatever you want to name them)
