Stop The Filter (Australian Internet Censorship) Protest

The sad truth of the apathy or ignorance about the proposed Internet filter resulted in a low turnout for the protests in most capital cities around Australia. Ultimately this sends the wrong message to our parliamentarians and will result in government censorship of the Internet proceeding at the cost of your civil liberties.

It's a shame that the Internet filter is not properly understood by the majority of Australians. Ultimately it will slow the Internet and do nothing to protect children from cyber-predators, whose main tool s(chat and peer2peer) cannot be filtered.

As one young girl aptly had printed on the placard she carried: "Children need parents, not filters".
