This is another version of my random melody generator, which plays a randomly generated 5 note melody, and displays the corresponding solfege. This time, the program selects either the I chord, the IV chord or the V chord, and randomly makes them either a Major 7th chord, a minor 7th chord, a diminished chord, or either a plain major or minor chord. Then it randomly selects from the three or four chord tones of that chord. It's pretty fascinating, especially if you can recognize the chords. One hint, they're all in third inversion (with the fifth on bottom in the right hand). Also, I keep a pedal of the root and fifth of the I chord throughout, played on strings. The idea is to relate the sundry chromatic solfeggio pitches to the root of the key. A very cool ear training tool.
