I remember passing by a TV in the engineering building at Michigan when this news flash came on. I stood there and shook my fists in celebration. I think this was the first time I saw the Olympics what it really is -- the triumph of the human spirit. Before that, it has always been an interesting spectacle but nothing more. Thank you, Dan Jansen.

Agree 100%. I'm from Norway, still this run with Jansen is one of the two things I will never forget from this OL. The other being the the 10.000m with Koss(norwegian). The latter being mostly because I'm norwegian, Jansen's run is a greater moment I'd say.

One of the most emotional Olympic stories told....
and one of the most touching as well.

The end when he skates with his adorable little daughter is so sweet.

From an American's point of view here. Yes, I was cheering for Dan Jansen, but I always cheer for the underdogs,
and the heartbreaks. How can you not?
the human spirit that rises up. The people that in great odds will define greatness or more important the human part.
That's what I love about the olympics. And I wish that more poeple could see that we're really, just all the same.

I remember I was sitting alone watching this in danish tv and I yelled when he crossed the finish line. It was truely a great moment.
The comentators are acting as there is a norwegian on the ice;)

I remember the crowd cheering for him as if he was their native son. They wanted him to win as badly as we did in the US. I've always held Norway in very high regard because of it, and it was further strengthened when I visited Oslo last summer.
