Jackson closes by saying America is living in a time when the role and diversity of faith is growing, and he is thankful that people's faith is being lived out. Without the involvement of faith in the political process, African-Americans would still be enslaved—faith has changed our laws, our land, and our community. It is therefore necessary that it remain a part of politics and we must resist calls to restrict it just because some choose to misuse their faith for partisan purposes. What is needed instead is more engagement, discussion and practical observation about how faith can be lived out in civil society.
