Haraf village, about 15 kilometres outside Hargeisa in north-west Somalia, is prone to various malaria outbreaks. This video clip tells the story of Fatuma, a business woman, who lives in Haraf. Some time ago she became very sick and stayed in bed at her father's house for a month. Her sister took her to a clinic in Hargeisa for a medical checkup. Early diagnosis and treatment of malaria reduces disease and prevents deaths. It also contributes to reducing malaria transmission.
