Full HD footage of this first Boeing 787 Dreamliner (Reg : N787BA ; Serial : 40690 LN: ZA001) prototype aircraft departing from Shannon Airport, Ireland (SNN) direct to Boeing Field, Seattle, USA.
The aircraft shown here is Boeing's first flying 787-8 prototype and is in full Boeing Dreamliner colours.
This flight departed Shannon at 11am (GMT) local time having overnighted in Shannon after arriving from Moscow, Russia 24 hours previously.
This flight operated with the callsign "Boeing Zero Zero One" (Flight No : BOE001) with a squawk of 4241.
As you can see the runway surface was very wet at the time as a heavy rain shower had passed through the area a couple of minutes before the 787 took off.
Trivia : This aircraft first flew on 15/12/2009 from Boeing Field and was the first 787 ever to fly. It is powered by two Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engines.
Update (01/12/2011) - This aircraft was decommissioned and retired on this date. Its destination is Palmdale, California for long term storage until a museum space is found for it
.
This footage was filmed while standing on the roof of my car with a Samsung HMX-H200 camcorder mounted on a Hama tripod.

@1400ScaleReviews Thanks. It was pretty tough filming conditions alright. Apologies for the amount of wind noise. However it was very windy, wet. Plus I was standing on the roof of my car to get a good filming angle over the perimeter fence. Trying not to get blown off the roof of the car was the hardest bit :)

@Matson757 Thanks. Yes she is a beautiful aircraft. What struck me in particular being that close was how different her engines sounded to other regular aircraft I saw taking off on that day. The engines made the most incredible powerful whine when spooling up. A really beautiful sound to hear.
