Faces of Monaco is a book of 200 black and white images of daily life in Monaco. The renowned Monegasque photographer, Sebastien Darrasse has captured the little known side to Monaco including the workers inside the Palace and aspects of working and daily life of the 30,000 inhabitants of the Principality. Faces of Monaco was granted exclusive access to shoot H.S.H. Prince Albert of Monaco in the intimacy of his office and in his official car whilst undertaking engagements.

Faces of Monaco is a project conceived by the Monegasque Publisher WHY and its director Oliver Sodeik. A primary objective of the book is to support Special Olympics Monaco.

H.S.H. Prince Albert of Monaco, who wrote the preface to Faces of Monaco was presented with the first copy of the book. He commented: This is a wonderful idea & a wonderful project & I think weve reached our goal to try to show Monaco in a slightly different light. A picture speaks a thousand words! Obviously it shows some of the recognisable events and faces in Monaco but it also digs deeper and shows the real everyday life, what happens in the industrial areas of Monaco and in the markets, showing the unsung and unknown heroes of Monaco and what they do every day. Theres a lot more to Monaco than meets the eye as Ive always said.

Faces of Monaco photographer Sébastien Darrasse also presented his artistic vision for the book, stating that: As a Monegasque myself, I had the chance to rediscover Monaco as I wanted to show the extraordinary in the ordinary. It was a great opportunity to present all the facets of Monaco through the people who live and work here.

Madame Mireille Calmes of the Special Olympics Monaco said, Faces of Monaco is so important to me as amongst the people of the Principality it includes handicapped people at work and in sport all portrayed in truly beautiful images.
