Severus & Lily: What would have been...

If Severus Snape had never called Lily Evans a mudblood, which was what sent her running into the arms of James Potter, what would their lives had turned out like?

Perhaps Lily would've married Severus instead of James and given birth to Shiloh Snape instead of Harry Potter. Severus certainly would not have become a Death Eater and in doing so, would have been able to live on a long and beautiful life with his wife, who would have never been targeted and killed by Voldermort.

I think its beautiful that Severus Snape remained in love with Lily, even after her marriage to James. He loved her from the moment he saw her, and from then on he always loved her, His patronous was a doe, like Lily's, and it seemed as though... in the end, he loved harry as if he were his own son.

@kitkat8686 He does not love Harry. He loved Lily. He's helping Harry BECAUSE of his love for Lily, even though it's extraordinary painful for him. And he WAS a death eater, before he realized the prophecy was about Lily. It's all in the book, all fact.
