Here's another nugget from the alternative musical underbelly of San Jose, CA, circa 1985. This is an ultra-rare video of BIG HAIR, a cowpunk band that split off into some splinter groups, including FRONTIER WIVES, WHISTLING BULLETS and THE KETTLES.

This is a great rendition of "Wild Thing" a 1965 song written by Chip Taylor, performed by The Troggs, Jimi Hendrix, Sam Kinison, and a lot of other musicians. BIG HAIR likes to call their version "Wild Thang."

This performance is from a special event produced by KFJC Radio and I.B.S. at the Works Gallery in San Jose on November 22, 1985. The video camera used was an old tube camera that really hated low-light situations, so there was a fair amount of tweaking to make this video presentable.

ENJOY!

  • Are you scared, or did you just not like the band?

The band hasn't played for 20+ years, so you have nothing to worry about...
