@metamorphosis67 I thought it was Larry Coryell as well. I took a few looks and I still think it's him. Maybe the uploaders date in wrong.

What an inspiration. The first to totally bridge classical, jazz and pretty much anything under the sun. He's not underrated in my book!!

I don't think Doc Severinsen was underrated in any way to be honest. He's always been marked on the top tier of trumpet players.

To repeat what I have said about another Doc video -- there are a lot of great horn players, but for pure technique, crispness, and sound -- I have to vote for Doc as the best. It's like all-time best running backs in the NFL -- it all depends on how you define the best (pure runner -- Gale Sayers; best all-around runner -- Jim Brown; best all-around football player in the position, Walter Payton; etc.) Of "Best Trumpet Players of All time" -- Doc is definitely in the team photo.

Hell. You knew he was getting ready to kick some ass on trumpet by the way he took a deep breath.

@platinumplusenter One of the most underrated trumpet players, in spite of his fame. The Tonight Show had some amazing performers in the orchestra, but they didn't always get the credit they deserved.
