Wow that silencer got really hot.  The barrel didn't seem to get as hot.

Nope, the barrel just acts as a tube to guide the bullet, the silencer actually tries to trap and slow the gas's down, so it absorbs alot more heat. I've seen .223 can's turn white.

Fun fact; Hiram Percy Maxim invented and patented the damn thing calling it a "silencer"

...So if the guy who came up with the idea of a baffled can attached to a firearm's muzzle called it a silencer, it's a silencer.

@rockpup I've seen M-60 barrels turn so white hot you can see the bullet travel down them. Once upon a time I even seen a guy grab one and begin screaming. Chopper medivac :)

Hope it wasn't your can turning white. Too much time and money in suppressors to destroy them without just cause.

Hes never used one so to him its still registers as a holly wood "silencer". Dont you love it, its like politicians calling a semi-auto AR an "assault rifle".
