On April 14, 2011 students from The Children's Center for Communication and Development participated in a St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Trike-A-Thon. Through the years, some students at The Children's Center have benefitted from the medical research that is conducted each day at St. Jude. This benefit was organized by parents as an opportunity for their children to develop an awareness of helping others.
In their classes, the students learned about riding-toy safety and then participated in the fun-filled event by bringing their trikes and other riding toys to school. A special course was created just for them on the circular drive in front of The Children's Center. USM campus bicycle police led the children on their first lap.
Over $600 was raised through sponsorship or participants.
