Video courtesy of Lou Borella. 4/7/09: Rock the Basie was the culminating performance of Rock Band Camp, a 10-week course for adult musicians of all ages and skill levels in which musicians worked in a Master Class setting with guitar player, record producer, writer and arranger Marc Muller, a Berklee College of Music graduate who has worked with Steve Forbert, Shania Twain, Elton John, Carly Simon, Donald Fagan, Dr. John, Blood Sweat and Tears, and the Spencer Davis Group, to name a few. After auditioning and being matched with other players to form a band, each weekly 75-minute class was run like a professional tour rehearsal, focusing on arrangements, performance and stage presentation. This concert is the program finale, featuring a wide variety of musical styles, including classic rock, blues, country and jazz.
