In honor of ESP big brother Thomas White's release of his first solo album - I DREAM OF BLACK - I thought I'd revisit the "early years" of THE ELECTRIC SOFT PARADE.
Yes... I'm talking back in 2002, when Thomas and Alex White released the first ESP album HOLES IN THE WALL... BEFORE THEY HAD EVEN GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL!!! And not only was the record a stunning creative and commercial success, it was later nominated for that years' MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE. What's left after that? Plenty. Last year saw the release of their 4th album, the wonderful NO NEED TO BE DOWNHEARTED. The Whites are now also full members of the popular British band THE BRAKES, have dabbled as guests on numerous bands' records and tours and, as mentioned, are now exploring the solo route. and I think the bothers are now ... what?... 23...24 years old. I feel like a slug!
I hope you enjoy this video for EMPTY AT THE END, which was their first ever single and was featured on HOLES IN THE WALL. It's a knockout and features one of the sweetest 25 second guitar solo/breaks in the history of rock!
Good one! :)
