Highlights from the 2010 Millbrook Horse Trials

Some of the nice rides I saw during the Intermediate and Advanced Cross Country competition on Saturday at the 2010 Millbrook Horse Trials. Kristen Bond and Buck Davidson won the A and B divisions of Advanced with horses Are You Ready and Ballynoecastle RM respectively, while Lillian Heard and Sarah Kozumplik took both divisions of the Intermediate, on Share Option and Manolo Blahnik, respectively. I'm sure many of us have felt like Jennifer O'Neil at the end of an arduous ride.

There were two obstacles at Millbrook that I've never seen before. First a huge terraced 'wall of doom' requiring three great leaps to surmount, and then a giant 'hill of oblivion'. Well to me anyway. I would loose control of certain bodily functions if I had to jump and then gallop down a dark crazy steep hill like that! Let's see you do those on your motocross bike.

This was a great weekend for Davidson, placing in the top 6 with every horse he rode in every division. That's why he's in the slo-mo bit with Liberty zig-zagging over the coffin - my pick for ride of the day. And that's why Davidson will be on the US Team for the World Equestrian Games in just 7 weeks.

I'm the last rider in the video, and YES that is me yelling pretty sure I was saying "you are the best boy ever, I'm so sorry!" I ran him past 10b the first time, he never saw the fence! So he jumped a clean round, I had a run out :) It was our first Advanced... That'll Do is my 11yr old OTTB that together we have gone from BN-A! :) Love him!!!

you should see if you can get any videos of Fitch's Corner Horse Trials. they have a beautiful x-country course. it's about 20 minutes from millbrook horse trials.

Just want to say that I've ridden at Millbrook. Not at that level, but I can assure you that it is a wonderful course, and a fantastic show all-round.
