This is so my life. I have lived the good and bad and won many prizes just when I needed them. Heavenly Father is good to mothers. I am blessed. It made our family cry and laugh. Thanks for a good movie.

Happy Mother's Day to the late Mrs. Evelyn Ryan. I really admire your strength, courage, patience, talent, wit and intelligence AND most of all I admire you for having a beautiful heart and for being too damn "happy". :) and then of course, Kudos to her daughter Terry "Tuff" Ryan for making such a brilliant book, Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio that turned into a great film. :) Happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there and God Bless you all. ♥

@LinkMaster1291411 really? your family is so mazin :) my history teacher just showed us this movie in my class and i fell in love with it. youshould be really proud.....to have an amazing movie like his made... btw.. (u probabbly know this..) but you know that contesting group that your great grandma was in? well one of the women was betty white, and ....at least accordin to my teacher, its the ACTUAL betty white. like the famous one :) i cried in the movie andlaughed and foudn it so amazing.

It's so hilarious. There have been a couple of films set in Defiance (my beloved hometown), and it's always represented by Canada. It's a beautiful setting, but much to hilly for this part of Ohio! Ha ha. I'm actually re-reading the book, because I'm away at college, and reading it makes me less homesick with all of the familiar family names, and places.
