Besides the basics, I want to see some BJ episodes, or clips when Jones is in action or is apprehending criminals. I want to see how he does it. Thanks.

God bless the Quinn Martin boilerplate, with its signature roll call.

If you agree that the Quinn Martin productions were educational, raise your hand.

Guest Starring: Some guy you never heard of. Also starring: This guy you might have seen on Star Trek. Special Guest Star: the Producer's current girlfrind. Tonight's episode: A Tisket, A Tasket, A Basket Full of MURDER.

It was a January 1973 mid-season replacement show that CBS didn't have high hopes for. Ended up running many years. Jerry Goldsmith's flute theme would sound familiar a few months later in the new show Police Story. Different theme but flutes in the same key. Gotta' love Buddy Ebsen and Lee Meriwether was always easy on the eyes!

Yes, I agree with you about the theme for Barnaby Jones.
Yet it always seemed oddly wistful or melancholic to me? Perhaps that's why I loved it?
It's been claimed that the composer, Jerry Goldsmith himself was dissatisfied with it!

Actually, Goldsmith hated the show. Check out the interview Jerry Goldsmith gave to the Archive of American Television (the TVLEGENDS channel on YouTube). Unless I'm mistaken, Goldsmith wrote the theme as a throwaway, not knowing that the show he despised would last 8 seasons.
