i found a similar one in the dump, not working of course. you say you got service manual? got schematics in it? how much to copy? or can you scan it and e it to me? it would be a real big help!!!
does anyone know how much i can get for one of hese(exactly like this) my uncle is giving me his.i have no clue what to charge.altho the radio works the record player needs work...just old! my email address is bjerzeegirl69@yahoo.com thanks
Great Video ! Did you re-lube the entire mech on the changer ? The diameter on the idler wheel does matter for the speed. The other one for the reject is not as critical. For best performance a new wheel and motor clean and re-lube would put this back into full service with no issues. Nothing beats a Magnavox !
@jfish2man you know i thought about changing the spring, but i like your idea better. right after i oil the motor it plays real good. ,but only for a couple of days. sometimes when i take the platter off , and then turn it on i"ll watch the idler and it will spin and stop, spin and stop. hmm if i barely touch it and i mean barely it stops. i like u"r suggestion. ill try it right now
Is there a tension spring that pulls the idler against the motor spindle?
On a couple RCA 45 rpm turntables, I had to shorten the spring a few turns because I had the same problem. It didn't have enough torque to spin the platter thru a record change.
Also if you put one of those strobe disks on the turntable, you might be able to see if the speed is slow and steady or fluctuating up and down.
@jfish2man yea it does slip . the platter still spins real free. with slight drag in the platter it slows down very easy. ill take a picture of the idler when i get a chance.

I really like the Micromatic record changers on these Magnavox consoles, they just look cool with the little control switch tower.
