My God this is just perfect. What a stunning performance. You can see why Toscanini said she had the voice of an angel.

Una meraviglia... Il sib in pp è metafisico...

@johndlabella tebaldi sings the phrase "domine et lux perpetua" as written with a long crescendo on the domine and a subito piano on the et lux ...achieving the stunning effect the composer asks. This is more dificult to do making it one phrase as Schwartskof Price flemming and Caballe do,the contrast is not as affective, and suddenly Verdi can sound like schubert or straus.

Aquí demuestra por qué TOSCANINI la llamó LA VOZ DE ANGEL.

Sounds to me like Tebaldi is perfectly happy with the tempo. She sounds gorgeous - butcan you hear how, on this day, the voice is asking for a LOT of air, so much that she chooses to break a few phrases in order to keep 'feeding the beast' (a smart choice from a great singer). It seem to me that a temp any slower and she may not have made such a lovely soft top and then the free, large ending.

@Matt75003 Isn't that Sol Hurok on the right? I know he managed Anderson and Peerce. Perhaps Tebaldi also? This looks like a staged PR shot to me.
Who else is on the picture at 3:37? I believe the lady on the left is the great Marian Anderson. I wasn't aware that the two of them knew each other, let alone had performed together.
