Captivating audiences world-wide with her mastery of the 13-stringed koto, Yoko Nishi's music is a mesmerizing fusion of ancient sounds and modern sensibilities. Here is her performance of Tadao Sawai's unique rendition of the traditional Japanese folk song "Sakura" ("Cherry Blossoms"), performed as part of her Oct. 2nd 2008 "Spirit of a Tree" concert at the JICC.

  • oh mai its inspiring gentle with daring tone with the confusion of time to fit in with the pious mysterious song ohhh i love it yoko is very much THe master of the koto board

  • 素晴らしい演奏。そして、美しい音色です。

    大半の日本人が、新年の数日間だけちょっと聴いて、

    残りの300程は全く忘れている・・・

    私もそのひとり。

    日本人失格ですね。

  • Nishi Yuko is a fantastic koto player, absolute amazing. I heard her in the concert "spirit of a tree" in Munich. Then she didn't play this piece, but instead "Gaku" from Sawai Tadao. So I'm very happy to hear this piece here on youtube.

Could you maybe post the other parts of her concert as well? Thanks!
