I am not in the modelling industry, I am an editor. The photographer and designer would never cast a girl who is unhealthy for any of our work. Who says girls are naturally 12-14? Young girls are more likely naturally to be 8-10 - people are getting bigger all right, but often not in a good way. At Biba in the 1970s they tried a size 12 but it didn't sell, so they stopped. Overweight is a far greater problem in the UK statistically than underweight.

granted this girl is very pretty but if what you say is the case why dont you 'in the modeling industry' use more girls who are Um-mm lets say naturally size 12-14 (average size in uk for most women)because maybe if you did less 8yr olds would be developing anorexia....!

Our sense of how people should look has become very distorted as the population gets bigger and bigger. It is much more 'normal' to see people eating what used to be consider a decent meal as a 'snack' with the visible consequences that we see in the street every day. International Life never uses models who are outside the healthy weight range.
