stadium NACIONAL -Planned capacity: 71,500
Brasília is the capital of Brazil. The name is commonly spelled Brasilia in English. The city and its District are located in the Central-West region of the country, along a plateau known as Planalto Central. It has a population of about 2,557,000 (3,599,000 in the metropolitan area) as of the 2008 IBGE estimate, making it the fourth largest city in Brazil, ahead of Belo Horizonte and Fortaleza — see also List of urban agglomerations by population (United Nations). However, as a metropolitan area, it ranks lower at sixth. It is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Brasília hosts 91 foreign embassies.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup will be the 20th FIFA World Cup, an international football tournament that is expected to take place between June and July 2014 in Brazil.
This will be the second time the country has hosted the competition, the first being the 1950 FIFA World Cup. Brazil will become the fifth country to have hosted the FIFA World Cup twice, after Mexico, Italy, France and Germany. It will be the first World Cup to be held in South America since the 1978 FIFA World Cup in Argentina, and the first time two consecutive World Cups are staged outside Europe (the 2010 FIFA World Cup was held in South Africa).

Quem passar lá em frente hoje, verá que a obra já está muito adiantada. Graças a Deus, tive a oportunidade de ir no último jogo do Mané Garrincha, que ocorreu em 25 de Março de 2010 entre Brasília e o time B do Flamengo.
