  • Thank you all for your valuable opinion!

To stop unrelated recommendations, this is 1999 VW Passat 1.9 TDI AHU (no PD) with VW 502/505 oil spec requirements.

This engine is running for 2 years with no problems.

    Kind Regards

    Vitaliy

  • Sounds like a lot of people here don't know what they are talking about. The 0w-40 is fine. It sounds like a perfectly normal diesel (I'm a diesel tech.) And if it is making a noise inaudible on the video, the oil is not the problem.

  • Hi all

Sorry for the lack of details. All tests done after engine been fixed by me - valves were banded. I'm using Mobil 0W40 now. :)

    Kind Regards

  • Oh no, Not that noise. If you want to get rid of that noise, You will need a whole new GASOLINE engine.

  • Sounds like a normal TDI to me.

  • It's a diesel, it's supposed to sound that way!

  • Sounds like a good PD TDI. :) However, make sure the oil you're using has a VW 505.01 specification!

  • Sounds fine to me....just like a TDI

  • @mrdodgeram1999 - Why do you think that oil dipstick tube is moving around so much? lol :)

  • @MrGTDONE M1 0w40 is fine for the 1996-2003 TDIs, it meets VW502/505. Only with the Pump Duese TDI's in 2004 (505.01) and the newest CR TDIs (507) is different oil required.
