This works cause it takes the tedious small stuff out. The small stuff usually piles on the sides makes a mess or collapses back in the holes. Yeah a tractor or gas auger would be better but for 70 bucks and a shop vac?
I think a piece of pipe with water would washing a hole would work better. I have washed in a shallow well this way in about 20 minutes to a depth of 25 feet. This method seems to be hard.
About 8 inches for about 10 minutes becuase the rocks are too big. Rent a gas powered auger instead. But for smaller rocks than the hose size THEN this would be good to use.
