Fun facts: this song is based on a poem "The Eyes of the Poor" by Charles Baudelaire. The story sung of is the same, really just a few words are changed.
Post-modern facts: T.S. Eliot, a poet highly influenced by Baudelaire, is referenced to in a huge part in the poem "The Waste Land" by John Beer, named after Eliot's canonical poem. In one part of the poem, a line reads "Kiss me kiss me kiss me", a reference to the album this song was on. An example of Beer's extreme allusionary methods.

that same poem The Waste Land used the cut up technique conceived by William S. Burroughs which was used by the band Coil in thier music. i enjoy both Coil and The Cure, everyone should hear Coil and everyone should hear The Cure
