The two drivers already at the mini roundabout apparently failed to notice the ambulance with lights and two-tone siren approaching from behind them. From where I was it still looked like they hesitated, not knowing what to do when it had to wait behind them, with the driver now using the horn to get them to move out of the way. How these emergency drivers keep their cool when folks just don't seem to realise their lack of attention could make the difference between life and death.
It's often difficult to work out which direction a siren is coming from, especially when the sound is bouncing off buildings.

Fair point but I would have thought that the flashing lights would have given the game away especially in the dark. Oh, but then the driver would have to pay some attention to their mirrors in order to see them. Also the hospital from where the ambulance came is about 0.5 away back down the road.
