In pictures I see that the stainless steel material has a texture to it and loses some detail after being printed, do you have other metal material that keeps the detail with a smooth surface?

There is a slightly granular surface finish to stainless steel. Our Sliver is MUCH smoother.

Is this stainless steel magnetic? I know it is similar to 420 type stainless but it is infused with 30-40% bronze. So does this mean it is 30 to 40% less magnetic than 420 S.Steel. Or less?

Hi @oakulmics, yes the stainless steel is magnetic, I do not think that it is any less magnetic than standard 420 stainless steel but we do not have comparative testing at hand.

From experience, with a rare earth magnet (neodymium magnet), there is a very strong attraction.

Don't listen to the hates about the music. If they don't like it, they can mute it.

How durable are these objects once they come out? Is this capable of printing utilitarian objects and tools which will endure stress? Of course it's stainless steel so that's weak, but if a stronger steel were used would the printed object be as strong as un-printed? Perhaps in addition to printing we need to heat our objects to fuse the grains into a single piece on the microscopic level rather than using glue.

I've seen several of these systems produce some really good looking pieces. My question is, does the system have the capability of producing critical components of something like a car engine or jet turbine with sufficient quality to meet standards of safety? And if for instance you were a small aerospace company looking to do something like rapidly produce engine components would it be cheaper to have it printed or milled traditionally?

As I understand the price points, these door handles must cost about $400 each.

    Would this be accurate?

Only waiting for a few years that the technique is state of the art and metal printing goes really fast and very cheap.

Than you can print your own coins to make money for yourself.

Nobody has to work ever more!

    Economics of abundance.

But the price for metal per kilo will be skyrocketing.
