Hank Mizell - Jungle Rock 1976

Hank Mizell (born William M. Mizell, November 9, 1923, Daytona Beach, Florida, U.S. — died December 23, 1992, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, U.S.) was an American singer, guitarist and songwriter.

I was walkin' through the jungle just the other night
Well, I heard a big rumble and I thought it was a fight
We were lost and we listened and began to move my feet
It was a jungle drum a, doin' a knocked out beat

It was a jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock
A jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock
A jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock
A jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock

A knocked out beat and I had to move my feet
It was a jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock

Well, I moved a little closer just to get a better view
I saw a chimp and a monkey a-doin' the Suzie Q
Well, a gator and a hippo was-a doin' the bop
While a great big falcon was-a makin' me hop

It was a jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock
A jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock
A jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock
A jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock

A knocked out beat and I had to move my feet
It was a jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock

(Instrumental)

Well, the fox grabbed the rabbit and did the bunny, hop
And all the fish stepped by and was a-cuttin' the rug
Well, a camel was a jitterbuggin' with a kangaroo
And the elephant was movin' with a ring, dang, doo

It was a jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock
A jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock
A jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock
A jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock

A knocked out beat and I had to move my feet
It was a jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock

A jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock
A jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle rock

  • She's cool little mover:)

  • @JSavic

Padantic and a tad anal too me thinks.. I'll amend my records and then pretend this whole sorry episode never happened... or kill myself, yes, that's what I'll do, I'll kill my self on new years eve....

  • @mrbillhicks Charly Records released Jungle Rock in March 1976 (not 1973) when Hank was 52 (not 53). Sorry to be so pedantic !

  • I remember 'Stompin to this in the '80's...imagine...some Laandaner wif a tun of makeup on had just been moaning about how his Viennese lover had left him..and Hank Marvin came on...Time for the Boppers!...the Youth Club Disco was bouncin..

  • Pure rock and roll

  • First 7" single I ever bought!

  • Hank recorded this way back in 58 but it became a number 3 hit in the UK in 73 after being picked up by Charley records.. By this time Hank was 53 and had to be tracked down to Tennessee and persuaded to go to the UK for pop show appearances.. Jungle rock peaked at number 3 in the UK and I think it reached the Number 1 spot in the Dutch charts. Hank passed aged 69 in 92, I hope that this song made him a few bucks for his old age... Still a great rockabilly standard. Rock on Hank...

  • Iguanna is a total arsehole!! and sucks arabs!

  • ,if you're a true rocker you could even make the 70's sound cool ;)

  • @iguanna41 lol,that's true mate.
