"Set Adrift On Memory Bliss" was the signature hit by P.M. Dawn from their debut album, "Of The Heart, Of The Soul And Of The Cross: The Utopian Experience". Song writing credit is given to Attrell Cordes (Prince Be of P.M. Dawn) and Gary Kemp of Spandau Ballet as the song is built around samples of their 1983 hit "True", as well as samples from The Soul Searchers' "Ashley's Roachclip." The main drumbeat also samples from Eric B. & Rakim's "Paid In Full". This song was the group's first and only #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, and it ranks #81 on VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of Hip-Hop. P.M. Dawn is an American hip-hop/R&B musical ensemble, formed in 1988 by brothers Attrell Cordes (a.k.a. Prince Be, sometimes credited as Prince Be the Nocturnal) and Jarrett Cordes (a.k.a DJ Minutemix or J.C. the Eternal) in Jersey City, New Jersey. The Cordes brothers' father died of pneumonia when they were children. Further family tragedy saw their baby brother Duncan drown at the age of two. The two elder brothers were raised by their mother and their stepfather George Brown, a founding member of Kool & The Gang. The duo is known for its smooth, artistic sound, which mixes hip-hop and classic soul with contemporary pop music This channel is dedicated to all the great rap music from back in the day. • This song reminds me of fridays at the skate center in 5th grade. I know nostalgia is a form of denial of the present but shit. It sure seems like it was the best of times. No job, no bills. no worries. God, youth really is wasted on the young.

  • Took me 10 years to find the artist to this song, nice reflection song (Y)
