Stockamollen Swing Festival June 2007. The amazing Carling family continue performing some great jazz. Here Gunhilde (trombone) introduces a spirited rendering of "Original Dixieland Onestep" with father Hans on trumpet, brother Max on clarinet, with a driving rhythm section from sister Gerd on piano, brother Ulf, drums and Mum Aina on banjo. Not sure who the bass player is here. A particularly enthusiastic -- and noisy -- audience enjoyed it to the full in this quiet corner of rural Sweden! (Sorry - had to cut Gunhilde's introduction, which was in Swedish, to keep within Youtubes 100Mb size constraint)

  • Nice, but stand upright, baby.

  • Well guess what? I am Ivan Carling and my first gig as a boy of ten was playing banjo in a band called the Johnny Vesper Jazzmen in London, 1954.

Later became the Crescent City Jazzmen.

And here is more Carlings playing Gulf Coast Jazz!
