I heard this band hanging out at the colllege radio station, WUMR, at University of Missouri at Rolla back in 1984. It is now called Missouri Univeristy of Science and Technology.

He is, since the band was mostly only John Watts, then he thought instead of going under the name Fischer Z, he went under the name John watts.
