The best feature of our John Deere A was the Farmall H we'd pull start the Deere with, yes the Deere ran all day, but that was because we were afraid to shut 'er down. Would keep a Super M, IH H and a john Deere in the field, the John Deere would use 1/2 the fuel for the day

if the IH engineers had designed the engines back about 14 inches and casted a large clutch housing with a massive flywheel inside, pound for pound they would've outpulled any green popper. instead, those engineers addressed power and torque with a lazy eye to weight placement and tractive effort. I own, work, and pull reds and greens. Even in the field the reds spin out before the greens, but the reds are def more powerful, and greens are more fuel-effiecient doing the same work as the reds
