@DJSumthinCool well i realize he's playing "his" telecaster, guess i shoulda specified, that type of tele though is only around $400, and even less if you buy a squier haha
-
@yohomeygsup Hate to break it to you but it's actually his signature Tele that Fender designed for him and it costs about $1200. Although, yes, you don't need to spend that much on a guitar, I just figured I should let you know haha.

For anybody thinking they have to go out and buy some 4 thousand dollar les paul to have a good sound or play like this? Look what jim is playing on...a standard telecaster(prolly tweaked to his liking of course) but nonetheless it's a standard $400 telecaster

@guitarcrazy2405 Then explain me how in live performances Jim plays more (improvised) leads than Mick? And how Jim's solos sound much cleaner? Mick won't even dare to play his own lead, and when he plays a solo live it's sloppy and many notes are either not hit or out of tune.

twice as much time to the original time
-
yeah right TWO guys could play a SOLO? ;) well, i don't care slipknot is best.
\m/ Stay sic maggots \m/

@NumberFour09 Jim's actually said that the reason for that isn't so much as the desire to change it and play something new as it is that he can't remember the solo note for note and just plays it however he feels sounds good and is close to the original. He pretty much just plays whatever he feels like even in recording sessions. He was just then starting to learn actual scales when they made the album.

btw jim recorded the solo in the studio

JAMES ROOT! <3

im not gonna hate on mick or anything,he does great riffs..but hes just horrible at solos...if you listen to them on the records they all sound the same except for vermillion....jims the guy for solos..he changes them up on stage and hes more melodic and diverse...listen to gehenna or the child of burning time or one of his stone sour solos their all so melodic
look guys you might think his playing is a bit sloppy but if you have noticed the song is played alot faster live and from being in a band my self it is harder to play a song in front of a big crowd and get it note perfect, you try going up on the rock AM ring stage and pulling off the solo note for note then you can criticize
