The IsraeliPalestinian conflict is an ongoing dispute between Israel and the Palestinians.It forms part of the wider ArabIsraeli conflict. Though the State of Israel was established in 1948 by occuping many palestinian terrotories, the term is usually used also in reference to the earlier phases of the same conflict, between Zionist pioneers and the Arab population living in Palestine under Ottoman or British rule.

Many attempts were made to broker a two-state solution, which would entail the creation of an independent Palestinian state alongside an independent Jewish state (until 1948) or next to the State of Israel (after Israel's establishment in 1948 in palestine). At present, a considerable majority of both Israelis and Palestinians, according to a number of polls, prefer the two-state solution over any other solution as a means of resolving the conflict. Most Palestinians view the West Bank and Gaza Strip as constituting the area of their future state, which is a view also accepted by most Israelis. A handful of academics advocate a one-state solution, whereby all of Israel, the Gaza Strip, and West Bank would become a bi-national state with equal rights for all. However, there are significant areas of disagreement over the shape of any final agreement and also regarding the level of credibility each side sees in the other in upholding basic commitments.

Within Israeli and Palestinian society, the conflict generates a wide variety of views and opinions. This serves to highlight the deep divisions which exist not only between Israelis and Palestinians, but also within each society.

@leonidl90 but i won't lie to you. there is still a bit of tension, but hopefully the extremes will go away. to many innocent people have died from both sides. i have Jewish friends and we don't like to talk about the issue because it gets awkward. i'm sorry for the stones that were thrown at you on the bus. we need to share the country and respect each other and each others property. *sigh* one day it will happen. but until then my friend...take care! :)

@leonidl90 thank you for your condolences. and sorry about what happened to your friend's grandfather as well. you are right..there are extreme people in israel but there are also extreme people in Palestine. all this violence is fueled by anger and passion. i wish we could live in peace. i guess when we were little the area of beit hanina and shufat and surrounding areas were bad, but i do hope you visit the area again. everything has changed for the best.

next to the matrket ''mahanei yehuda'' ... she was next to the bus station when the bus exploded .. after thoose things your brain stop's to think and you feel that you want to hate.. but we should understand that there are many good people in the world. you meet so many nice people on the both sides. @Rolla4Prez the story that you wrote really touched me .. and i am very sorry and i hope that this Idiot who killed your cousin will be punished or allready punished ! there are to many extreme right people in Israel still not the most of them !most of the people in israel ( and jerusalem) want peace and respect. I hope that the extreme sides of both of the sides wont let us thinking that all of them are like this. a friend of me lost her grandmother in a terror act in jerusalem on jaffo street

@leonidl90 i could tell u so much more stories of terror in jerusalem by the terrosist israeli army but i would end up having 1000 replies to you. our beautiful olive groves in shufat is almost gone because an illegal settlement is expanding it's home near us. that is land that isn't supposed to have a house built on. israelis disrespect the land by burning down and uprooting our olive trees and building the stupid wall. they don't want peace if they burn down and tear up a symbol of peace.

@leonidl90 my cousin was in jerusalem when he was shot and killed by an israeli. you know why he was shot? an israeli asked him for a cigarette. and then after he gave him the cigarette, the israeli then asked him if he was arab. my cousin answered yes. and he was shot and later died. he was married and had 3 kids. and he was only 25 years old. the israeli was taken away but i'm pretty sure he was later released. the real terror in jerusalem is by the racist Israelis.

@leonidl90 no beit hanina is not a camp. i know this because my family is from the neighboring town of shufat. the only attacks done in jerusalem is by the israeli soldiers. i've been in jerusalem when the soldiers started to shoot their guns in the air just to scare us and make us run. no one was doing anything to them we were all going home after prayer.

where are the stones that I got everyday on the bus when i was a child ? where are the daily terror actions in jerusalem ? no country is so nice to the arabs like israel ! they live better then in any arab country.you can see it !just visit israel ! they can study and work exactely like the Jewish people !
