yahi hai tamannaa tere dar ke saamne
meri jaan jaaye meri jaan jaaye
haay yahi hai tamannaa tere dar ke saamne
meri jaan jaaye meri jaan jaaye
haay ...

tere dar pe aayaa to bas aa gayaa main
na peechhe hatoongaa zamaane ke dar se
abhi aa raha hoon abhi kaise jaaun
mila kya hai mujhko abhi tere dar se
zaraa dekh loon main ye rukh ki bahaaren
ye qad pyaaraa-pyaaraa ye zulfon ke saaye
haay yahi hai tamannaa tere dar ke saamne
meri jaan jaaye meri jaan jaaye
haay

gilaa hai yahi mujhko tere Khudaa se
haseen jisne itnaa banaayaa hai tujhko
na aataa kabhi teri galiyon mein zaalim
tere husn ne khud bulaayaa hai mujhko
jalaakar koyi shammaa kaise kahegaa
ke dekho yahaan par naa parwaanaa aaye
haay yahi hai tamannaa tere dar ke saamne
meri jaan jaaye meri jaan jaaye
haay

mohabbat mein teri agar maut aaye
to wo maut kitni haseen maut hogi
kisi roz main teraa daaman pakadkar
jo mar jaaun kyaa dilnasheen maut hogi
agar koi aisi ghadi aa rahi hai
to meri duaa hai wo jaldi se aaye
haay yahi hai tamannaa tere dar ke saamne
meri jaan jaaye meri jaan jaaye
haay..

Storyline

A family drama with a special focus on two generations of the Chopra family. Dinanath Chopra lives in a small tenement with his wife, and two sons Baldev, and Chandramohan. Dinanath re-finances his house in order to get Baldev to study further and be a doctor, and also gets him married with Rekha who comes from a very wealthy family. Chandramohan studies in college, and has a sweetheart in the form of the gorgeous Asha. Asha lives with her mom, and dad, a sort of quack. Differences in the Baldev emerge and multiply. Baldev and Rekha move to their palatial house. The birth of a baby boy to Rekha does lighten things up a bit, but not for long. Dinanath loses his eyesight in an accident and becomes blind. Chandramohan goes out of town to look for employment, leaving his sick mother and blind father at the mercy of an uncaring daughter-in-law, and eventually the older couple are forced to leave Baldev's house...

Raja Mehdi Ali Khan راجہ مہدی علی خان was born in Karimabad in undivided India. His early tutoring was under his mother Hebay Saheba soon after he had lost his father. Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal has acknowledged Hebay Saheba as a leading Urdu poet. S. Mukherji the partner in Filmistan Studios gave Raja Mehdi the poet a chance to write lyrics in his film Do Bhai (1946). Songs like Mera Sunder Sapna and Yaad Karoge from this film became instant hits. In 1947, in spite of communal riots, Raja Mehdi and his wife Tahira decided to stay in India rather than migrating to the newly formed Pakistan. In 1948 his patriotism manifested in his songs Watan ki raah mein and Todi todi bachay from the film Shaheed starring Dilip Kumar and Kamini Kaushal.

Raja Mehdi worked with both established and new music composers. Madhosh (1950) was music composer, Madan Mohan's debut film with Raja Mehdi. He had been associated with music composers like Iqbal Qureshi, Babul, S. Mohinder, Chic Chocolate and Rono Mukerjhi to name some. He has written some wonderful songs with C. Ramchandra (Mere piya gaye Rangoon) and O. P. Nayyar (Main Pyar Ka Rahi Hoon). However, he formed an immortal team with Madan Mohan.

Anpadh, Mera Saaya, Who Kaun Thi, Neela Akash, Dulhan Ek Raat Ki and Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah were some outstanding films where this duo worked together. Raja Mehdi Ali Khan was the first lyricist to introduce Aap in film songs, such as Aap ki nazron.... (Anpadh), Aap kyon roye (Woh Kaun Thi?), Aap ne apna banaya (Dulhan Ek Raat Ki). His song Lag ja gale from the film Woh Kaun Thi? was one amongst the top ten all time favorites in film history to be 'retired' from Antakshari on Zee TV. He died on 29 July 1966.
