Trenton Vibe Co. is applying for a $250,000 grant from Pepsi, to start a sustainable revitalization movement in Trenton. We are taking a holistic approach to revive one block, but through our effort we hope to reach across our city to touch the world.
Voting for our idea starts June 1st, 2010. Vote once a day, everyday. Be an agent for change and tell everyone you know to do the same. Together, we can change the world, one community at a time.
The Trenton reVibe program will address residents' top concerns in an underserved business district. It will provide meaningful work for artists, stimulate business activity and encourage cultural and community development on an important, neglected Main Street, priming it for a new era of prosperity.
Location: South Broad Street at the corner of Market, toward Greenwood (aka: 300 Block) in Trenton, NJ
Creative foliage and flower beds
Outdoor lighting to promote safe foot traffic
Aesthetically pleasing bicycle racks installed
Building facades restored
Aesthetically pleasing storefront displays that maximize curb-appeal
Tastefully painted trashcans installed and used for a block-wide cleanup
Artfully designed signs posted to allocate parking/directions to attractions
Murals painted on boarded, or abandoned properties
Events to promote local artists, businesses & volunteer effort
$75,000 in low-cost loans to businesses
This revitalization effort will have a million dollar impact, but cost only $250,000 because we are involving a holistic approach and great deal of volunteer effort. This will make most of every dollar spent and help develop community and encourage participation in the urban zones.
