The House Of Eliott is the charming BBC series of two somewhat contrasting but oh so likable sisters! Evangeline (Eve) and Beatrice (Bea) Eliott are left to fend for themselves in London 1920 after their fathers sudden death. Eve and Bea embark on a challenging but inspiring journey towards independence, establishing their own haute couture fashion house.

Such enjoyable characters, excellent script, fantastic locations and of course magnificent costumes make this one of BBC's less recognized but more enchanting series!

Originally broadcast over 3 series from 1991 - 1994.

  • did anyone else find that evie got progressively more annoying and self righteous?? especially there at the end!

  • @chrichoable yup, she used to be sort of rebellion and fun. By the way she cut her husbands balls as well, did a good job because she had to, to make him commit, but still, not her style at all

  • I am scandalized that the BBC ended this gem of a series completely unresolved on a cliff-hangar...So it was down to the fact that this was the last major production filmed at Television Centre with the multi-camera set-up was it?..Also single-camera and digital production was a lot less expensive than producing in-house I believe...Why oh why could they not just film a special consisting of a couple of extended episodes to tie up all of the storylines..Thank you for uploading the series.

  • @DaveyC95 i totally agree with you, man. By the way I looked up the grand series, looks like a great show indeed, but hard to find. Thank you for the great comments, cheers.

  • @DaveyC95 go to "the victorian lady" channel you will find the whole series of The Grand..

    good show

  • @AshunSush that's so unfortunate:( I try to avoid dulicating content on Youtube, I thought noone uploaded "The Grand", I searched Google and youtube before the upload, but you are right "Victorian Lady" also has uploaded "the Grand". I don't think that's a big deal, but I wonder why that happened? Does anyone else has the same problem of searching the series and not finding them, but then stumbling upon it? So weird and such a waste of time:(

  • @TheFirstlady1408 It's a great show. I was so frustrated when I couldn't watch it anywhere, so when I found it I decided I should share my joy with others. Honestly, I didn't expect such a reaction. There were so much thanks and great comments... I am happy you've enjoyed it too:)

  • I would've loved to see how the House of Eliott fared into the 1930's, and what became of Tilly and Norman and the rest of them. I was very young when this was originally aired so I don't know how popular it was at the time, but maybe they could do a one-off special, to show where the characters all ended up... like they did with Upstairs Downstairs last Christmas.

  • thank you for posting this series and the upload quality is great:)

  • Wow I enjoyed the series very much although it does not feel as it is over. Like other whis that they would have resolve all the issues pending, starting with Penny going to India. In any case I sure had a lot of fun thank you Fotokadr for taking the time and dedicacion to upload this marvelous series.

  • I guess the sisterly relationship is on the rocks! Evie will fight Bea et al. "every step of the way".

An unresolved and unsatisfying final, for sure. But if the past is any clue, the sisters will eventually work out their differences with each other.

  • Man I love these kind of shows..... Im 16 and my twin thinks these kind of shows are immensely boring but i quite disagree! :)

  • loved it looking for more of this

  • @TheGuardianizz I think that would have been a great plotline to have that conflict, but then resolve it all if the BBC had commissioned a 4th series, truth is the days of filming major productions in large studios using multi-camera were ending by the mid-1990's.

  • thanks :)

  • I have to disagree with the general opinion. I always preferred Beatrice because Evie seemed progressively "loose" with each episode. I've lost count on her number of lovers (she's had several in the US) and most of her "acts of rebellion" were selfish and caused nothing but trouble for The House Of Elliot. However, in the last episode my preferences switched! I HATED Beatrice getting rid of haute couture. Who DOES that?! She took a leap towards Macy's & away from Chanel! Vive l'Haute Couture!!!
