A Garden Grove man is in critical condition after a confrontation with police officers leads to a shooting. The footage is by On Scene Video News Service. The incident happened at the 13000 block of Ferndale St. at about 2:15 this morning. Dispatchers sent officers to the home of a man who had called 911 and said he had just "committed suicide," according to a statement issued by Lt. Jeff Nightengale, the Department's spokesperson. The man was outside his residence when officers arrived and obeyed commands to drop a knife he was brandishing. Police say the man then drew a handgun from his waistband and was shot multiple times when he pointed the weapon at officers. The man was transported to UCI where he is listed in critical condition. The District Attorney's Office will investigate the shooting which is standard Garden Grove PD procedure.

No, that's never good. He wanted them to shoot him and that wish is easy to grant.

@djgummogg an alternative response as in let him pull a gun and wait and see if he shoots us or not ?

His statement that he had "Just committed suicide" was actually his call to the authorities, to arrive at the scene, observe his visable weapon, fire upon him and kill him. He wanted to die and this was easier than pulling the trigger on himself. In this day we can only hope for an alternative response from our police.
