Dubai Murder Saga: Did Mossad land Israel in the doghouse?

The Bond movie-style murder of a Hamas leader in Dubai may have been a covert failure - but in terms of publicity the event could be deemed a success. While Dubai police claim they are 99 percent sure the assassination is the work of the Israeli secret service, the story has become a bragging point for some in Israel but for others - a blow to Mossad's reputation.

Mossad can kill all they want. Israel is surrounding by enemies. Not saying Hamas or Hezbollah are justified in their actions either, but this will only escalate the violence in the region. Israelis will die, some innocent. God help these people understand that peace is the only REAL choice.

@ofri75 we've been hunting nazi war criminals for 50+ years, and bringing them to a court of law for trial. You wait, if necessary, because no one can stay hidden forever. Either you believe in the rule of law or you don't. You can't have it both ways. America used to stand for the rule of law. Unfortunately, since WWII, we have become outlaws ever increasingly and I think the world is less safer because of it. Just my opinion, of course.

Are you aware that both (Bin Laden / Mabhouh) were senior terrorists with a lot of blood on their hands, killed hundreds / thousands of innocent civilians, and would probably executed in American court anyway? And if you are aware of that - what is your solution, incase it it known and proven, but there is no other way other then assasination?

@slewofdamascus - well I tend to agree that it would have been better if he was kidnaped and brought to justice and executed, but I assume that under the circumstances it was impossible, so they had to operate the best you could in the available conditions...btw Israel is not alone here: USA, Russia, UK, France, Iran, Syria, Pakistan, and others used this method to assasinate their enemies... I agree that it's not acceptable - but it's reality....

@ofri75 I take a dim view of extra-judicial killings, I don't trust government to make these moral/ethical decisions in place of the people's inalienable right to a fair determination before a lawful body. Assassination is an afront to international law and the national laws of most nations. Watching ignorant Americans, many of them young, make fools of themselves after Obama's announcement was disheartening to me. I am embarassed for my countrymen and my government re: the whole sordid mess.

1. Hamas was NEVER elected in Gaza. Hamas took over Gaza by a military coap, murdering all their apponants (Fatah members, Christian palestinians) and throwing them from the roofs of the building to their death.

2. Mabhouh was a senior terrorist with blood on his hands. He murdered Israeli citizens, respnsible for kidnapping, terorr bombing, and transferring weapon from Iran to Gaza. He was our Bin Laden.Thank god for the hit!

@slewofdamascus - It's not "sickening" at all, but very understandable and natural .The same thing happened in the USA after Bin Laden assasination (even better - people were dancing in the streets of NYC!)

FYI: Manhouh was a senior terrorist. He murdered in his own hands a few innocent Israeli hitchhikers (shot them in the face) by disguising to an ultra-orthodox Jew. Further more - he planned many terror attacks and was incharge of brining arms from Iran to Gaza to murder innocent Israelis
