I am a big Diamond fan, but I think this version is by far the greatest. It really captures the feeling of the song.

Yeah thanks for loading this!. I have been looking for this song since it aired on TV in the late 80's. I agree with Timothysaarinen, best version ever.

I saw them play at Monash Uni, circa 84. Bought the Sleeplesss EP? have to check. This is the standout song. Other material good but eventually got a bit tiring and thin / formulaic for me. But really strong live band.
Another great cover of the time is Straightjacket Fits doing So Long Marianne.

Hey! I remember this band. I love this album. Bought it in 1986 and played the grooves off it. I cannot find it on CD or another vinyl copy. Could never find anything else by them. Was thrilled to find them on Youtube, especially this song. The best version of " Solitary Man " i've ever heard. Sorry Neil.

A really great cover of one of the best singles of any time. Probably this is the best version of "Solitary Man" ever played. Ups and Downs? In spite of this superb beginning, they remained a promise in rock universe. A little shadowing light that never became a star. Why?
