Alan Merrill's 1985 Hard Hearted Woman video, the first single release from his Polydor solo album. The actresses are Joan Hastings as the brunette, and Kathleen Vigeland the blonde.
Note: Alan Merrill played all the instruments and did all the voices (lead and background) on this track.
Vid trivia: A young pre-fame Will Smith attended this 1984 Adam Friedman produced video shoot.

  • Summer, the beach. I love it.

  • @1Sharpobject I wish it was warm now. It's freezing outside and this video warms me up with thoughts of the beach, sand, and pretty girls.

  • Recorded in 1983, Alan played all the instruments and sang all the parts on this self produced track, which was released as a 45 rpm single on Polydor records in 1985.

The song's's on his "Never Pet A Burning Dog" CD reissue.

  • Seaside Heights New Jersey in the summertime!

  • Adam Friedman, who directed this video, also did the film "Rappin'" around the same time. It's an early 1980s rap music film.

  • Yeah, Runner was a great band. Alan Merrill, Steve Gould, Mick Feat and Dave Dowle. This track sounds a bit like that band in fact. Maybe because this was his first record that he made after Runner broke up. Hey, I like your screen name. It's like a polite version of mine:) lol

  • Alan wrote the song & played and sang all the parts on this recording.

  • LOL the 80's

I'd like to see Beavis & Butthead commenting this video

  • bien

  • Sounds like Alan's old band Runner at the end of the song in the three part harmony bit.

  • Thanks, I did a bit of searching on the 'net and did come up with his name but his voice doesn't sound like it did on The Sweetest Victory. I once had a sneaky feeling it was Steve Perry of Journey using a different name lol

  • The brunette Joan Hastings has a great website. She's been in quite a few films and done loads of voice overs for commercials since this video was shot.

  • A great summer video. It looks like it was a hot day!

  • Lots going on! Dancers, actresses, actors, planes, this WAS the EIGHTIES!
