If I hadn't looked at the date, I would have placed this earlier in time. She looks and sounds great. 5/5

I'll be honest I guessed on the date. I think I am off. There was no date at all listed on this performance. It was from Vienna mid to late 80's. Hampson and Matteuzzi were also in the cast.

She has such a different voice--like Callas, her blessing is an instantly recognizable timbre. But I love the ornaments, and the gamwkiness she brings to the role (just as she did with Cherubino). Plus she was absolutely adorable, a fantastic mind and interpreter, and she's one of the great advocates and artists.

I LOVE her first insistent "MA!" before "Ma se mi toccano"--one of the most fun parts of the aria for the singer, too, launching into the flashy stuff. FABULOUS characterization!

Having heard von Stade, Bartoli and Garanca, Im convinced this aria is best sung by a mezzo. What adorable warmth Fredericas voice has!!!
