Milk at BK costs 89 pence for a 250 ml carton (Quarter of a litre) that works out a 356 pence per litre
I sell my milk to First milk . For May and June milk i received just 17.6 pence per litre or slightly over 4 pence for 250 ml .
So the milk at BK costs 19 times more than i get !
according to Promar (dairy consultants ) the cost of producing a litre in the UK is about 28 pence
Until farmers are paid a fair price for their milk more are going to get out of the industry and do something else .
