Garry Marshall referred to the classic 70's comedy anthology, LOVE, AMERICAN STYLE, as the place where bad television pilots went to die. One such pilot was for his obsuce 50's family sitcom idea, Happy Days. The pilot originally aired as part of Love, American Style in 1972. On the heels of the success of George Lucas' film, American Graffiti, the powers that be decided to capitalize on the sudden 50's nostalga crazy and give it the green light. Unless you've lived under a rock, you know all to well that Happy Days went on to become one of the most popular sitcoms of all time spawning numerous spin-offs and fads. This is the clasic opening of Love American Style that featured the Happy Days pilot which they appropriately titled, Love and the Happy Days.
