I love David Tennant but...yeah, that "American accent" isn't very convincing. It goes between old-fashioned Southern and something I can't really identify, but either way it sounds a bit outdated. I don't mean the phrasing; I know he's reading from a book.
I do think the tendency to go Southern when doing an American accent is pretty funny, especially considering that I'm a Southerner and can't even make myself sound Southern. ^^; The closest I can get to any accent is Canadian haha
