I actually got in an argument with my aunt. She said hair could be combed dry because her braider does not wet the hair to comb it before braiding. I guess she didnt understand that since I still have all the curls, I need water (and conditioner) to comb.

i agree with you 100%, your aunt still has a bit of a mental shackle, its not okay for someone to burn your hair, and comb it dry.
This is the very reason why I do NOT go to a stylist now. Combing hair while dry, raking hair, and not sectioning to comb are all no-no's for my 4 hair type.
The way I see it-I know this info on how to do natural hair, why don't the stylist?
So I have given up on stylist in the DMV area, I would be better off getting a girl on youtube to do my hair lol!

You aint lyin!! I went to the Cosmotology school where I used to take classes and they cut my hair wet and cut it uneven at that. I decided to just do it myself and my hair grew back pretty darn nice, if I might say myself... : )
