This video was part of my master thesis in augmented reality at the Norwegian University of Science & Technology in 2003. Shown is the final demo case where I am able to control a model railroad via tcp/ip by clicking directly in a live video feed. (The extremely low framerate is caused by the crappy video streaming utilities used)
The application was based on ARToolKit by HIT Lab NZ.
What is shown is an app I wrote to relate real life objects to virtual objects in an OpenGL object model. Simple wireframes are placed over the desired objects and then saved with unique IDs. I then use regular OpenGL picking techniques to allow the user to mouseclick a real object in the live video.
